2022.01.16 06:43 mustamoon Dream about lion-shaped cloud sunset

Last night I had a dream about sunset, with giant lion-shaped cloud. The sunset is pink purple mixed and it was truly wonderful. Me and my husband was fascinated and kept headed west to follow it and then we reached a stream, where a lot of people was playing, swimming. That stream was next to a Catholic school. How should I interpret this dream? I think the lion sunset is a main key but should I look for meanings about lion and sunset separately or combined?

2022.01.16 06:43 POCKALEELEE Libel online: are texts that few people read still considered libel?

SO we have gone from publishing in papers, to nearly everyone having a device to text from. But if someone sends a text that is false (for example that you are using illegal drugs, or are having an affair, etc) is it libel? It seems a lot of things would fall under this definition. Does a libelous statement have to be seen by many people, or have made obvious damage to someone's reputation to be libel? Is libel/slander even a thing anymore?

2022.01.16 06:43 ARTEMIS_HUNTRESS_ #Why earth isn't flat.

Let's just say earth was flat.. this is what would happen.
*Gravity Fails
First of all, a pancaked planet might not have any gravity People who believe in a flat Earth assume that gravity would pull straight down, but there’s no evidence to suggest it would work that way. What we know about gravity suggests it would pull toward the center of the disk. That means it would only pull straight down at one point on the center of the disk. As you got increasingly far from the center, gravity would tug more and more horizontally. This would have some strange impacts, like sucking all the water toward the center of the world, and making trees and plants grow diagonally, since they develop in the opposite direction of gravity’s pull.
The planet would simply collapse back into a sphere.
To shape a cosmic body into a disk (rather than a sphere), you've got to spin it very fast, says David Stevenson, a planetary scientist at Caltech in Pasadena, California. This would, unfortunately, destroy the planet by tearing it into tiny particles. In the 1850s, astronomer James Clerk Maxwell showed mathematically that a solid, disk-like shape isn't a stable configuration in the cosmos, in work he conducted regarding Saturn's rings. Maxwell's research predicted that Saturn's rings would be made of lots of small, unconnected particles; he turned out to be right. His math also explains why there are no planet-size disks floating around the galaxy. To flatten Earth without spinning it very rapidly, you'd need magic, or perhaps a galactic panini press. At any rate, a stamped-flat Earth wouldn't last for long. Within a few hours, the force of gravity would press the planet back into a spheroid. Gravity pulls equally from all sides, which explains why planets are spheres (or nearly so – depending on the speed of a planet's rotation, those forces may work against gravity to create a bit of a bulge at the equator). A stable, solid disk-like Earth just isn’t possible under the actual conditions of gravity, as Maxwell’s math showed.
And once you get rid of gravity, everything about our planet rapidly stops making sense
The atmosphere? Gone, because it's held to the planet by gravity. Tides? Gone. They're caused by the gravitational pull of the moon, which tugs on the oceans and causes them to subtly bulge out as it swings by.
The moon itself? Also gone, since every explanation of the moon's existence involves gravity. In the most widely accepted scenario, the moon was created when a giant, planet-size body crashed into the early Earth; debris from the crash was captured by Earth's gravity. Another scenario suggests that the moon formed at the same time as Earth did (again, thanks to gravity). Or, Earth's formidable gravity attracted and snagged the traveling hunk of space rock as it went hurtling by.
*History of flat and spherical Earth
The ancients had many novel ideas about the shape of the earth. The Babylonians thought the earth was hollow, to provide space for their underworld. The Egyptians thought the earth a square, (with four corners) with mountains at the edge supporting the vault of the sky.
Aristotle argued for a spherical earth, for these reasons:
The gradual disappearance of ships over the horizon, the tops of the sails disappearing last. The shape of the curved shadow of the earth on the moon during eclipses. The variation of the sun's elevation with latitude. (This was the basis of Eratosthenes' measurement.) The variation of a star's elevation with latitude. The fact that one sees new stars as one moves north or south on the earth's surface. Matter tends to form into drops or globs, and the earth, in forming from chaotic matter, did the same. Proof by elephants: When one travels west from Greece, one finds elephants (African). When one travels east one finds elephants (Asian). Not realizing that these elephants are different kinds, he thought that one was traveling to the same lands by going in opposite directions.
The early Christian Church accepted Aristotle's spherical earth. But a few malcontents within the Church pointed out that the Bible speaks of 'the four corners' of the earth. In the 5th century CE the monk Cosmas Indicopleustes, in his Christian Topography, described a square earth with a heavenly vault, much like the Egyptian model. Tertulian also was a flat-earther.
Science writer Robert J. Schadewald gave me permission to quote the following paragraphs in which he summarizes the Biblical evidence which flat-earthers use to justify their position. He wrote this to a geocentrist fundamentalist who was arguing that the Bible supports a fixed, non-moving earth, with the all the rest of the universe moving around us at about one revolution per day. Bob, of course agreed that the Bible does support that view, but wonders why this particular fundamentalist did not also accept the idea that the earth is flat, since that has basis in the Bible also.
...The Bible is, from Genesis to Revelation, a flat-earth book. ...While the Bible nowhere states categorically that the earth is flat, numerous Old Testament verses clearly show that the ancient Hebrews were flat-earthers. This comes through more clearly in modern translations such as the New English Bible, but it's clear enough in the King James Version. The Genesis creation story says the earth is covered by a vault (firmament) and that the celestial bodies move inside the vault. (See Genesis 1:6-8 and 1:17. Note that, even in KJV, while there are waters "above" the firmament, the celestial bodies are "in" it.) This makes no sense unless one assumes that the earth is essentially flat.
That the Hebrews considered the sun and moon to be small bodies near to the earth is clear from Joshua 10:12, which gives specific localities [geographic] in which they stood still. Isaiah 40:22 says that "God sits throned on the vaulted roof of earth, whose inhabitants are like grasshoppers." In the book of Job, Eliphaz the Temanite says God "walks to and fro on the vault of heaven.'' (Job 22:14. The KJV translators copped out on the last two verses, but in both cases the implications are clear.)
That the earth was considered essentially flat is clear from Daniel, who said, "I saw a tree of great height at the centre of the earth; the tree grew and became strong, reaching with its top to the sky and visible to the earth's farthest bounds." (Daniel 4:10-11) Only on a flat earth could one see a tree reaching the sky (dome?) from "the earth's farthest bounds."
The New Testament also implies a flat earth. For instance, Matthew 4:8 says that "The devil took him [Jesus] to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their glory." From a sufficiently high mountain, one could see all of the kingdoms of the world"but only if the earth were flat. The same applies to Revelation 1:7, which says that at the second coming, "Every eye shall see him." Finally, Revelation 7:1 refers to "the four corners of the earth," and corners are not generally associated with spheres.
The Biblical cosmos model derives from Egyptian sources, which had a flat earth covered by a rounded sky vault supported at the four corners of the earth by high mountains. The 'waters above and the waters below' in the book of Genesis refer to the Babylonian notion that the waters were divided, and some remained above the sky vault. The vault was like a leaky roof and some of that water falls down as rain.
Astonishingly, some present-day 'biblical creationists' now argue that this water above the sky was the source of the flood in the time of Noah. They realize that if the waters did cover the earth to the highest mountain tops, there just isn't any source of that much water in the earth or in the atmosphere! So it must have come from somewhere else, they argue, in their pathetic attempt to make creationism appear 'scientific'.
Eratosthenes (c 276 to 195 BCE) was probably the first to accurately measure the size of the Earth. He knew that at summer solstice the sun was directly overhead in Syene (now Aswan, Egypt). On that day, vertical sticks or poles cast no shadows, and sunlight fills the bottom of wells. The town of Alexandria is directly north of Syene (on the same meridian), and on that same day vertical poles do cast shadows, because the sun is then 7.2° from the zenith. Eratosthenes assumed this to be due to the earth's curvature.
Knowing the distance between these cities to be 5000 stadia (from land surveys), he calculated the earth's circumference to be 250,000 stadia. [1 stadium was 1/8 of a Roman mile, or 220 yards in modern measure.] That's a circumference of a little over 24,662 miles, which is nearly the modern value of 24,900 miles. This value was considered too large by most of Eratosthenes' contemporaries, who preferred the smaller value worked out later by Poseidonius (18,000 miles). The latter value was accepted by Ptolemy (and Columbus, much later).
Note that Eratosthenes made the assumption that the sun was far enough away from the earth that the incoming solar rays are parallel.
Popular histories give the impression that Columbus had to contend with flat earth believers who warned that he'd sail right off the edge of the earth. It is even said that he set out to prove the earth was round. That's myth.

2022.01.16 06:43 tissek Had my first messy and awful brew yesterday

A bit of a brew diary.
First of my Mash/Sparge/Boil equipment, in a way I have a simple setup. It is a 16L kettle with a spigot and in the kettle there is also a 15cm Bazooka filter. Longer filter than that doesn't fit. When I mash I do it directly in the kettle, no bags nor inserts. Then sparging I use a "manual" fly sparge method. Simply put instead of pumps and so on I add water manually. After sparging I empty the kettle and give it a scrub. Then back with the wort and time for boiling. Have a Hop Spider to contain the hops. I enjoy my method and while it is not perfect it so far have worked for me. until yesterday...
Yesterday I wanted to go outside my comfort zone, press the boundary of my craft. Also I like rye.
Malt bill 2kg Maris Otter 2kg Rye malt
And that's it. The attentive will see there are no rice husks. Thought I could do without but SPOILERS I couldn't. I also decided to do a step mash because it is a kettle and I mash on the stove, so why not do some heating.
Step mash schedule Mash in at 55C, 10L water (2.5:1 ratio of water:grain) 45min at 50C 45min at 60C 45min at 70C Mash out at 75C and sparge at 75C, collecting up to 12L wort
I let it take it's time when it came to heating so I didn't do full hours.
The results
An image says more that a thousand words
Pictures taken the morning after, it required that amount of time for the messy stuff to settle down. As you can see there is a lot of mess, even post boil. Don't know how this will affect post fermentation but I may let it rest quite some time along an extended cold crash just to get as much beer out of it as possible.
Gravities After 45min at 50C 1,057 After 45min at 60C 1,092 After 45min at 70C 1,091 (had to dilute the mash) After sparging to 12L 1,058 After boiling 1,056 (10L post boil volume)
So then what issues did I have. First of all the mash after the 60C step was dense, when I took that sample it was a thick fluid. To even be able to heat it to 70C I added 2L of nearly boiling water that I gently stirred in. That did the trick and it was a workable mash. Another note about the heating, I stirred a lot. Don't know how that affects the mashing process, aeration and such. So post mashing I was still pretty happy with the step mash trial. Just need to allow myself to be more aggressive with the heating and make sure it really reaches the target temperatures. Was a bit of a wimp.
Big issue though came at sparging. As mentioned above I didn't use any rice hulls. BIG mistake as I had to continuously remove grains from the filter, if not is just stopped flowing. What I got out was a grainy dirty fluid. And the sparging took it sweet time. To get rid of the worst I ran the wort through a filter cloth and that removed a fair bit. Then a standard 1h boil, 50g Target at 60min and 1ml Portafloc at 20min. Then through the cooler and into the fermentation bucket. Added a bit of water to get the total to 10L
After taking the gravities, and redoing them for the pre and post boil, I ended up with an efficiency of 45% according to brewer's friend. The strange thing is that after boiling it down to a smaller volume I have a less strong wort. Pre boil I had 12L at 1.058 and post 10L at 1.056. It should have gone up. Why it didn't I don't know. Sure there was a bit of really messy wort left in the kettle but that shouldn't do that much.
What I've learnt

I hope you have enjoyed reading this brew diary. The issues I had I think I have a handle on and can solve for next time. But...
Why is my post boil gravity less than the pre boil despite being less volume?

2022.01.16 06:43 lincsafm Is 1.6m x 1.4m big enough for a walk-in wardrobe?

We have have just built an extension and ended up with a space 1.6m x 1.4m at the side of the en suite in the master bedroom. I had planned to put a built in wardrobe in this space, as in just a couple of rails across with a sliding door, but at the 11th hour my wife came up with the idea of using more of this space to make a walk in wardrobe. It's not too late to do anything about it (the joiner has just done the internal walls), but need to make a decision quickly.
Is this space big enough to have space to walk into? Has anyone done anything similar in a tight space? The 1.6m is fixed but we have a bit of flexibility with the 1.4m. 1.6m would be absolutely the maximum I could go to.

2022.01.16 06:43 amougs I am fucked genetically and there’s nothing I can do about i

Tw for drug abuse ig
this isn’t going to be cohesive since I’m not interested in telling a story. my whole family is filled with addicts. i always knew my life I had to be careful with taking any kind of substances but I always figured since my dad got off booze and shit, I could manage too if anything ever happened. but recently I just learned he never actually fully quit, im so torn up. ive got adhd and severe self control issues already, my life could literally just be over by accident. I could be super drunk at some party and do coke and my life would just be over from there. im terrified substances are going to control my life, and they already kind of do. it’s all I think about sometimes and it’s miserable, it’s getting better. I used to abuse shrooms (just because I thought it couldn’t do anything bad to me) and it fucked with me hard. i just wish that part of my brain that always craves to be drunk or high to get that stupid fucking dopamine release would permanently shut its fucking mouth like it does on acid. maybe one day we’ll have something that can do that. I can barely even handle weed responsibly too lol, thankfully for psychs you can’t really over do it (or else bad thibgs). like I said not cohesive, im just in pain.

2022.01.16 06:43 drmaestro88 The KuCoin Bonus

Hi,
I'd like to ask a silly question. When I enabled futures on KuCoin, they gave me 8 USD that can only be used in futures and cannot be transferred. So my question is, is this a useful amount to invest or different fees will eat it instantly if you try to use it? I don't plan to use futures at all, as I find it too unpredictable in an already very unpredictable crypto market but I'd like to know if that 8 USD could be used to try a transaction.
Thanks...
