2022.01.16 07:03 BarbaAlGhul Alleen vs Maar vs Slechts
So, basically, I struggle a little to understand precisely when to use each of them.
6 years ago someone asked basically the same (here), but the person was going for translations and since I myself am not a native English speaker, I find a little bit confusing all the explanations, I prefer something more "case of use" oriented, with a bit of grammar even.
The person on the other topic was even putting "pas" in the discussion but as I understand, "pas" would be a time-related word while "alleen/maaslechts" would talk about quantities (if I'm wrong, please correct me).
But yeah, when exactly an "alleen" is correct and when exactly a "maar" or "slechts" is correct?(as I understand maar and slechts are kinda synonyms, but I don't see that they are used exactly in the same way). Also, when should I use with countable nouns and when should I use with uncountable nouns? "Slechts" I see a lot in ads for products, "slechts 10 euro...", but I can't think of any other situation that I ever saw "slechts" being used.

2022.01.16 07:03 retrocatman I'm being ghosted out of what seems like nowhere
So a while ago I met this girl online, on a page from a band we both like. She decided to add me, and we started talking. It immediately clicked, and we spent a few weeks just talking almost continuously. The subjects ranged from fun things such as our dogs and videogames, to more serious things, such as struggles with depression and relationships. We're both in our 30's, so meeting people can be quite difficult.
The more time we spent talking, the more affectionate we became. I started noticing that, despite her living on the other side of the world, I grew very fond of her. In a way, I even felt somewhat of a crush developing. She told me she started liking me in that sense too. She sent me videoclips and voice messages saying she wished I was there with her. Things seemed to be going well.
Around new years I started noticing she started being less chatty. I didn't worry much, as new years is a pretty busy, eventful time, so I figured she just didn't have an opportunity to chat as much. No biggie. The first weekend of new years, I didn't hear from her at all. It worried me a bit, so I asked what was going on. In short she told me, after the weekend, that she hadn't been feeling well, and she reassured me that nothing I say or do would ever cause her not wanting to talk to me, and that she likes me a lot. That was quite a relief. She told me before, when we talked about friendships ending badly, that she'd definitely be there for me, anytime, so this reassured me about that in a way too.
I made the mistake, however, of becoming a bit clingy. I started saying I wish we would talk a bit more again, as she still seemed kind of busy. That I missed her company. Nothing too extreme, but in hindsight it might've been a bit of a clumsy move to keep bringing this up. We chatted for a week, until she started being completely silent. I have no idea what had happened, but she didn't talk to me for several days, so I figured I'd ask her what's up, and if everything's okay. No response. A week later, before this weekend started, I sent her a message if she could let me know if everything's okay. Still no response.
What worries me about this, is that she's online almost the entire day, and she's uploading stories, statuses, etc etc., yet doesn't take the time to message me. I know this shouldn't affect me so much, as she lives on the other side of the world and we've only been talking for about a month and a half now, but it does make me feel really bad, insecure and doubtful. Out of nowhere, it seems she's decided to ghost me.
I'm not sure what to do now. On one hand, I kind of feel like I'd want to remove her from my social media, as I know I'll feel hurt whenever I see she's active yet doesn't take the time to tell me what's going on. At the same time, removing her would mean I'd break my promise of not sticking around like I said I would. In a way it feels like she's leading me on (is that the right expression?), by not letting me know what's going on, and that hurts.
Fact is, I've grown quite fond of her and I wish she'd just get back at me. But I don't want to send more messages, as it'd only make me more and more doubtful of myself. I don't want to flood her, and I don't want to lose myself over this. I hate dealing with this as it seems so juvenile and she really didn't strike me as a person that'd just end up ignoring me.
Thanks for letting me rant out. I appreciate you reading this.
